Opportunity 1: Taste Community Garden/Restaurant: Friday February 4th 11am-2pm

Taste Community Garden provides fresh, healthy food to guests and those less fortunate at Taste Community Restaurant, while also serving as a hub where diners and volunteers can learn about gardens, food sourcing, gardening techniques, and promote use of these skills at home. Taste Community Restaurant exists in the city of Fort Worth's largest food dessert where access to affordable, fresh food is limited.

Volunteer Opportunity: The Kitchen Team

Do you love being in the kitchen?  The Kitchen Team is responsible for ensuring the highest food quality. Food Prep includes cleaning chopping, and preparing raw ingredients, as well as using recipes to prepare portions of menu items.  Line Cooks take direction from the Executive Chef to create each plate. 

*You must be 16 yrs or older to volunteer on the Kitchen Team. Complete the sign up form below and we will submit your name as a volunteer with Team RHWC.

Opportunity 2: Tarrant Area Food Bank Kitchen Garden: Saturday, March 12 10am-12pm

If you love being outside and have an interest in gardening and growing food, then this volunteer opportunity is for you. The Tarrant Area Food Bank Community Garden Program is an initiative in which communities at risk of hunger and malnutrition are guided and inspired to grow their own produce. This program offers creative and simple solutions to improve access to nutritious food in our service area.

No prior experience is required, however volunteers should feel comfortable lifting, bending, stooping and working in outside weather conditions. Please dress for the weather in layers of clothing that can get dirty. Wear close-toed shoes or boots. Hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and bug spray are also recommended.

Volunteer roles include but are not limited to:

  • Weeding

  • Watering

  • Planting

  • Harvesting

  • Seed starting

Individuals as young as 13 years old may volunteer in the Kitchen Garden; however, ages 13-15 years old MUST have at least one adult chaperone for every 5 youth.
