Opportunity 1: Tarrant Area Food Bank Learning Garden:
Tuesday, December 13 9am-11pm
If you love being outside and have an interest in gardening and growing food, then this volunteer opportunity is for you. The Tarrant Area Food Bank Learning Garden Program is an initiative in which communities at risk of hunger and malnutrition are guided and inspired to grow their own produce. This program offers creative and simple solutions to improve access to nutritious food in our service area.
No prior experience is required, however volunteers should feel comfortable lifting, bending, stooping and working in outside weather conditions. Please dress for the weather in layers of clothing that can get dirty. Wear close-toed shoes or boots. Hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and bug spray are also recommended.
Volunteer roles include but are not limited to:

Watering

Harvesting

Seed starting
Individuals as young as 13 years old may volunteer in the Kitchen Garden; however, ages 13-15 years old MUST have at least one adult chaperone for every 5 youth.

Opportunity 2: Taste Community Garden/Restaurant:
Wednesday, December 14, 2022 8:30am -2:30pm
Taste Community Garden provides fresh, healthy food to guests and those less fortunate at Taste Community Restaurant, while also serving as a hub where diners and volunteers can learn about gardens, food sourcing, gardening techniques, and promote use of these skills at home. Taste Community Restaurant exists in the city of Fort Worth's largest food dessert where access to affordable, fresh food is limited.
Volunteer Opportunity: Group Service (We are looking for 5 volunteers.)
At Taste Community Restaurant, volunteer groups will be split between the Kitchen Team and the Service/Welcome Team. The Kitchen Team is responsible for ensuring the highest food quality. Food Prep includes cleaning chopping, and preparing raw ingredients, as well as using recipes to prepare portions of menu items. The Service Team is responsible for providing an exceptional service experience for our guests. Servers greet guests, answer questions related to the menu items, and take guests' orders.
